Think Different!

I love ideas that are outside the box. Finding new and creative solutions for items around the house is fun and can give your space a unique look for very little. I'm going to share some of my recent faves.

Love having nail designs but are time crunched or too uncoordinated (like me!) to get it to look right? Try this quick and easy solution for nail stripes.

Got an old bed that has seen better days? Give it new life as a garden bench. Just cut down the rails and add a seat. If the footboard is interesting consider cutting it down for interesting bench arms.

Want an easy update for stairs with a cool cottage look? Try this idea. Safe, functional, easy, and (best of all) cheap.

The next time you are faced with a decor difficulty try looking at it in a new way and see what unique ideas you can come up with.

Some fun freebies!

There are some great freebies to be had this week for back to school and also just because scoring free items is awesome!

First of the Walgreens freebies. With register rewards Lipton tea in the refrigerated case is free. It is on sale for $.99 and you get $1 in register rewards for the purchase. Also, they have Carmex skin care items on sale  for $4.99 with $4 in register rewards. If you go to there is a $1 off Carmex skin care coupon to print which makes this free. (Insert happy dance here).

Back to school freebies can be scored at Target this week through a combination of manufacturer and coupons.

The Target website has coupons for $1 off Papermate pens and $.50 off Scotch Magic Tape. Both items are on sale this week. A 10 pack of Papermate pens is $1 and the Scotch Tape is $.49. With the coupons both are free.

If you have the Rose Art coupons from the newspaper (this was a week or two ago) for $1 off 3 items use it to pick up Rose Art markers and crayons. Target will throw in a free pack of crayons when you purchase the markers. The markers are on sale for $.49 each so pick up 2 and add a pack of crayons for 3 times the freebies.

Also some cheapies at Target. From the Target website print off a $1 off Advil coupon and a $1 off Garnier coupon. Add these to coupons that came out in the newspaper (and that you may be able to print off online at one of the coupon sites) and it will make Garnier Fructis shampoo $.79 and a 20 count bottle of Advil Liqui-Gels around a buck.

Don't you just LOVE saving money? Happy shopping!

Looking Good For Less

It is always a great boost when you can look great for less and here is a deal at CVS to help you do just that.

In the Sunday Proctor and Gamble coupon insert there is a coupon for $3 off any 2 Cover Girl cosmetic items. Go to your local CVS and look for the Cover Girl Eye Enhancer eyeshadow singles. Many of the colors are on clearance for 50% off retail price. Pick up 2 for a total price of $3.98 apply your coupon and you end up with 2 Cover Girl eyeshadows for under a buck.

Some coupon kiosks at CVS are also printing a $5 off any $15 Cover Girl cosmetic purchase. There was also a $1 off any 1 Cover Girl product in the inserts too. If you get the kiosk coupon and have multiple coupons from the paper you can stock up on the cheap.

Also, do not miss the CVS sale on Physicians Formula cosmetics this week. They are taking $7 off any Physicians Formula makeup priced $7 and up. Several items are under a dollar with this deal even before coupons and on top of it there were $1 off coupons in the paper a while back. If you still have these it will really make this great (and kind of expensive) makeup cheap.

Isn't saving money fun! :-)

Walmart freebies and cheap deals....

Here are a few freebies and a cheapie you can pick up at your local Walmart:

If you have been clipping coupons from the Sunday paper, take the $1 off coupon from the 5/20 Red Plum insert and pick up Cutter backyard wasp and hornet killer for free.
Another freebie to score is courtesy of this week's Proctor and Gamble coupon inserts. There is a $1 off Ivory soap coupon and good ol' Walmart carries this item for just under a buck. So pick up soap for free too.

One more Walmart freebie: you can pick up a $1 off any Cutter product by liking them on Facebook. Take that coupon and pick up a Cutter Citronella candle for free.

And while not free, this is a cheap deal. Take the $1 off any Secret product from this week's Proctor and Gamble insert and pick up Secret deodorant at Walmart for $.74.

Now that you have the deals, go and shop for (almost) nothing.

A Little Cleaning For Less

If you feel like beating the heat and staying indoors where the air conditioning is but still want to get some cleaning done (or more likely, feel like you should get some cleaning done) snag a coupon from for $5 off a Bissell carpet cleaner rental at Lowe's.

Also, there is a coupon for $.50 off any Lime Away cleaner at Lime Away's website (you have to register for their newsletter to get it). Dollar General has Lime Away toilet cleaner at the everyday price of $1.00. With the coupon you can pick up the cleaner for a whopping $.50 each.

Dollar General also has a coupon on it's site that will give you a free Jello instant pudding if you purchase Cool Whip. So pick up that sweet treat to reward yourself for cleaning the floor and bathroom.

Super Double Coupons

A little late to the game on this deal too (sorry, there isn't one nearby) but Harris Teeter grocery stores are having their Super Double Coupons again through June 26th. This means that they will double coupons up to $2.

There are of course some restrictions (I hate those): you must have a store card and there is a limit of 20 coupons per day.

They do take internet coupons so make sure and check out the online coupon resources to grab more coupons for the items you need.

My Points (save money plus earn points for redeeming coupons):
And the ultimate Coupon Database at:

This is still a great way to make those high dollar coupons work to the max and potentially score items for free. So check out and see if there is a Harris Teeter in your local area and grab groceries for a lot less.

An additional savings at CVS: the coupon machine will print out a coupon for Skinny Water if you scan your extra care card. This is a buy one get one free. There is a $1 off 2 bottles of Skinny Water in the Sunday paper which means you can pick up 2 bottles for $.79. A cheap way to cool off in the hot weather.

Super Summer Sale

Old Navy is having their annual $1.00 flip flop sale again this year on June 30. It is a great way to pick up beach and pool shoes for the whole family at a super low price.
Fair warning about this sale: it will be very, very busy in the store. So you will have to decide for yourself if it is worth it.
Happy Shopping!
